Pop culture historian and author Steve Cox is in to talk about The Wizard of Oz with us.  Steve is an authority on the topic.  His book "The Munchkins of Oz" takes a fascinating look at the people who played the munchkins and found out how they became involved in the film, what filming was like and what became of them after the film.  He's done exhaustive research on Oz and spent time personally with many of the munchkins.

We discuss all sorts of odd topics including The Alton Giant, Mickey Carroll (A munchkin who spent most of his life in St. Louis), Oz-related urban legends, The Doll Family and much much more.  The MGM Lion and its odd history is also discussed.

This is part 1 of a 2 part interview with Steve.  Episode #35 will again feature Steve and we'll discuss The Three Stooges- a topic he's also written about.

Steve has written over 20 books on various pop culture related topics.
