In 1977 a comedy film about a terrible, small town minor league hockey team hit theaters.  Over the past 40 years, Slap Shot has gone on to become one of the most beloved sports comedies of all time.  The Hanson Brothers are these 3 crazy, childish brothers that play for the fictional team in the film and cause chaos everywhere they play.  They join the team mid-season and their insane fighting-style of play changes the entire tone of the team and the town starts to finally start showing up at the games to watch this team of misfits get wild.

Steve Carlson was a minor league hockey player at the time and he was cast to play "Steve Hanson", one of these crazy hockey playing Hanson brothers in the film.  In fact, the part was actually written based off of him and his 2 real life brothers, so it was a perfect fit!

The characters in the film were so memorable that Steve will forever be known as a Hanson Brother.  We chat about the making of the film, life as a minor league hockey player in the 70's, the impact the role has had on his life and what he's been up to since.

Hockey fan or not, this is a really fun episode about a truly classic film!  Thanks for listening!
